Frequently Asked Questions

Amazon charges a referral fee on every sale, which varies by product category. Most categories are 15%, but some like Electronics and Computers are 8%, while Jewelry can be as high as 20%. This fee is calculated on the total sale price including any shipping charges passed to the buyer.
FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) means you ship your inventory to Amazon's warehouses, and they handle storage, packing, shipping, and customer service. FBM (Fulfilled by Merchant) means you handle all fulfillment yourself. FBA has additional fees for fulfillment and storage, but products get the Prime badge and typically convert better.
FBA storage fees are based on the cubic feet your inventory occupies in Amazon's warehouses. Standard rates are $0.87 per cubic foot from January–September, and $2.40 per cubic foot from October–December (peak holiday season). Oversized items and long-term storage incur additional charges.
The closing fee is a flat $1.80 fee charged on media categories only — Books, DVDs, Music, Software, Video Games, and similar items. If your product isn't in a media category, this fee doesn't apply.
Individual accounts pay $0.99 per item sold (no monthly subscription). Professional accounts pay $39.99/month but no per-item fee. If you sell more than 40 units per month, Professional is more cost-effective. Professional accounts also get access to advertising, bulk tools, and advanced reporting.
